| When the whole population of Gozo was concentrated in the Citadel and its suburb, Rabat had no less than four parishes, among them St James. However, in 1575 Ta' Savina and St James ceased being parish churches, leaving only the Cathedral at Citadella and St George's Basilika as parish churches of Rabat. | |
